CHELMSFORD, MA – The Chelmsford Police Department proudly announces the promotion of Sergeant Daniel Goguen to the rank of Lieutenant during a ceremony held in the department’s Community Room on Monday, February 10. The event was attended by fellow officers, town employees, and Lt. Goguen’s friends and family, all gathered to celebrate this well-earned achievement.
Lt. Goguen has been a dedicated member of the Chelmsford Police Department since 2004, following his service in the U.S. Army National Guard. Over the years, he has taken on numerous critical roles, including Use of Force Instructor, Firearms Instructor, and Field Training Officer, where he helped shape and mentor new officers.
In April 2022, he was promoted to Sergeant, and in 2024, he became the supervisor of the Wellness and Community Outreach Division, furthering his commitment to officer well-being and community engagement. Throughout his career, Lt. Goguen has been deeply involved in the Chelmsford Police Athletic League, Toys for Tots, and numerous community programs, strengthening relationships between law enforcement and residents.
During the promotion ceremony, Chief Colin Spence praised Lt. Goguen’s dedication, highlighting his three Merit Awards and numerous letters of appreciation from community members who have described him as compassionate, kind, and committed to public service.
The Chelmsford Police Department congratulates Lt. Dan Goguen on this well-deserved promotion and thanks him for his continued service, leadership, and commitment to the department and the community.
