Operation
The Communications Division is home to nine civilian employees who receive and dispatch all emergency and non-emergency calls for service for the Chelmsford Police and Fire Departments. The Communications Unit is a 24/7/365 operation. The Dispatchers track Police and Fire unit locations and availability for calls. The Dispatchers are also responsible for the upkeep of the daily log for the Police and Fire Departments. In 2022, approximately 44,000 calls for service were handled by the Communications Unit.
