Training and Enforcement

The Traffic and Training unit is led by Sergeant Nick Ziminsky. Sgt. Ziminsky is responsible for ensuring that all mandated training for our Officers is completed within the allotted time frame. This includes In-Service, Firearms, Taser, and much more. Officer Riley O’Keefe is assigned as a full-time traffic enforcement Officer.

The Chelmsford Police Department has two Harley Davidson motorcycles which are deployed for traffic enforcement, special events and large-scale incidents. There are 9 certified motorcycle operators in the department: Lt. Jason Poor, Sgt. Nick Ziminsky, Lt. William Carlo, Sgt. Bob Brown, Sgt. Shawn Brady, Ofc. Kenny Meehan, Ofc. Keith Leczynski, Ofc. Craig Mead, and Det. Chris Mauti. Sergeant Bob Brown and Detective Chris Mauti are also assigned to the NEMLEC motorcycle response unit.

The Chelmsford Police Department owns two drones which can be utilized for search and rescue, crime scene reconstruction, and crash reconstruction. There are several Officers who are certified Drone pilots. The Chelmsford Police Department also has several mountain bikes which are used at large events. Numerous officers are Mountain Bike Certified.
