Chelmsford, MA — The Chelmsford Police Department is issuing the following traffic advisory to inform residents and visitors of scheduled road closures and parking restrictions associated with the 2025 Independence Day celebrations. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, seek alternate routes, and expect delays in the affected areas.
Road Closures and Parking Restrictions:
- Academy Street
Closed to all traffic and no parking on either side beginning 12:00 PM, Thursday, July 3rd through approximately 2:00 PM, Friday, July 4th. - North Road (between Fletcher Street and Littleton Road)
Closed to all traffic and no parking on both sides from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Thursday, July 3rd for the Country Fair. - Dalton Road (Upper and Lower Sections)
Closed at North Road starting at 8:00 AM, Friday, July 4th. - Major Road Closures Beginning at 9:00 AM, Friday, July 4th:
- North Road from the Drum Hill Rotary to Chelmsford Center
- Central Square
- Littleton Road at Chelmsford Center
- Chelmsford Street from Central Square to Fletcher Street
- Boston Road at Summer Street
- Parkhurst Road
Closed at approximately 8:30 AM, Friday, July 4th for the parade and annual road race. - Chelmsford Street at Wilson Street and Billerica Road at Summer Street
Closed beginning at 9:00 AM, Friday, July 4th.
Please note: Road closures will remain in effect until crowds have dispersed and cleanup and breakdown operations are safely completed.
Special Notice for Residents at 255 North Road:
Residents will be permitted to take a right turn when exiting the property and may return using the rotary. Please be advised that significant delays are expected.
