Chelmsford Police Department Swears in New Officer Gabriel Murphy

CHELMSFORD, MA — Chief Colin Spence is pleased to announce the swearing-in of Officer Gabriel Murphy during a ceremony held on February 9 in the Community Room at the Chelmsford Police Department. Officer Murphy was officially sworn in by Deputy Town Clerk Maria Companion.

Officer Murphy grew up in Franklin, Massachusetts, where he attended Franklin High School. He later earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Plymouth State University. He is currently continuing his education at Fitchburg State University, where he is pursuing a Master of Business Administration.

Officer Murphy joins the Chelmsford Police Department after more than three years of distinguished service with the Pawtucket Police Department in Rhode Island. During his time there, he served as a patrol officer, Field Training Officer, and most recently as a School Resource Officer. His supervisors and colleagues describe him as a natural leader with a strong work ethic, outstanding character, professionalism, and a deep commitment to community policing.

Throughout his career in Pawtucket, Officer Murphy demonstrated exceptional performance and dedication to the community. In recognition of his service, he received a Commendation Award, Merit Award, and an Excellence Award.

The Chelmsford Police Department is proud to welcome Officer Murphy and looks forward to the positive impact he will have serving the Chelmsford community.
