Chelmsford Welcomes Two New Officers

The Chelmsford Police Department proudly welcomed two new officers, Dominic DeSilvio and Daniel Sanchez, during a swearing-in ceremony held on the morning of October 11th. Both officers recently completed an intensive five-month training program at the Lowell Police Academy, graduating on October 10th.

Officer Daniel Sanchez brings an impressive resume despite being at the start of his law enforcement career. Born in Colombia, Daniel moved to the United States in 2010. He graduated from Lowell High School in 2017 before joining the United States Army in 2018, where he served with distinction during two deployments to the Middle East. During his military service, he was awarded the prestigious Combat Action Badge and an Army Commendation Medal with a Combat Device. At the Lowell Police Academy graduation, Officer Sanchez continued his record of excellence, earning 1st place awards in both Firearms and EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations).

Officer Dominic DeSilvio is a Chelmsford native and graduated from Chelmsford High School in 2019. He went on to attend Norwich University, where he earned his degree before embarking on a career in law enforcement. His commitment to his community and academic achievements have prepared him well for the challenges ahead.

Chief Spence expressed his pride in both officers, noting that beyond their academic and professional achievements, their mutual support during the rigors of the police academy speaks volumes about their character. “In addition to thanking their families, both officers want to thank each other for the support they provided throughout their training. That is a testament to the fine individuals before you today,” Chief Spence remarked.

Officers DeSilvio and Sanchez will now enter a 12-week Field Training Program, where they will continue to develop the skills necessary to serve and protect the Chelmsford community.

The Chelmsford Police Department congratulates Officers DeSilvio and Sanchez and looks forward to their future contributions to the force.
