Chelmsford, Massachusetts — Police Chief Colin C. Spence and the Chelmsford Police Department announce the retirement of Sergeant Phillip Dube, who concluded his 32 years of dedicated service to the Town of Chelmsford on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
“It was an honor to recognize Phil’s retirement after 32 years of distinguished service,” said Chief Spence. “Throughout his career, he earned numerous accolades and the respect of his colleagues, court staff, and members of the community.”
Clerk Magistrate Lisano of Lowell District Court noted that Sergeant Dube was an integral part of the court as the department’s Police Prosecutor, adding that he will be greatly missed by the court staff.
Sergeant Dube began his career with the Chelmsford Police Department in 1994 as a Patrol Officer and was promoted to Sergeant in 1998. In 2022, he was assigned as the department’s Police Prosecutor, representing the department in Lowell District Court.
Throughout his career, Sergeant Dube demonstrated a consistent commitment to professionalism, dedication, and compassion. Among his commendations, he received a Meritorious Service Award in 2004 for his outstanding performance during the arrest of a robbery suspect and an Award for Valor in 2009 for safely assisting in taking an armed, emotionally distressed individual into custody.
Sergeant Dube’s service extended well beyond traditional police duties. He volunteered with Camp Fatima, supporting children with physical and developmental disabilities, and participated in several community programs, including D.A.R.E. and the department’s Community Read-In initiative.
Chief Spence also recognized Sergeant Dube for his commitment to supporting fellow officers and department employees.
“I would also like to personally thank Phil for his thoughtful and compassionate approach to officer and employee wellness,” Chief Spence said. “Phil and I had several conversations regarding officer and employee wellness, and I valued his guidance in addressing these issues. His support made a meaningful difference to many within our organization, often in ways that may never be fully known.”
The Chelmsford Police Department thanks Sergeant Dube for his decades of service and dedication to the community and wishes him all the best in his retirement.
