CHELMSFORD, Mass. — Chief Gary Hannagan is pleased to announce the swearing-in of Officer Michael Wizboski, the newest member of the Chelmsford Police Department.
Officer Wizboski was sworn in during a ceremony held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in the department’s Community Room. The ceremony was attended by family members, friends, fellow officers, and Town employees as Officer Wizboski officially joined the department.
Officer Wizboski grew up in Methuen and, following his graduation from high school, answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army Reserve as a combat engineer. He continued his education at Middlesex Community College before earning a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Salem State University.
For the past three years, Officer Wizboski has proudly served the residents of Londonderry, New Hampshire, as a police officer. During the Chelmsford Police Department’s comprehensive background investigation, command staff and fellow officers from the Londonderry Police Department consistently described him as a dependable, accountable, and highly professional officer who performs his duties with integrity every day.
“We are excited that you have chosen to continue your law enforcement career here in Chelmsford,” said Chief Hannagan during the ceremony. “We believe you will bring those same values, professionalism, and work ethic to this department each and every day. You are joining a group of men and women who take tremendous pride in serving this community, and I have no doubt that you will strengthen an already proven police department.”
Officer Wizboski will now begin the department’s field training program, where he will work alongside experienced Field Training Officers before beginning solo patrol duties.
“We are proud to welcome Officer Wizboski to the Chelmsford Police Department,” Chief Hannagan added. “His military service, law enforcement experience, and commitment to public service will be a tremendous asset to both our department and the Chelmsford community.”
